Q: "Why are the catapults controls so complicated?"
A: Well, the catapults works by tilting the wiimote up vertically and then doing a throwing motion. So that "tilt the wiimote up vertically" needs to be a button you need to hold down on those things (which is RT/R2)... then you tilt the wiimote back with the analog stick and then you "fling it forwards" by holding down X (which just shakes the emulated wii remote but that works well enough).
There's a later section in the game (that I won't spoil in the video itself) that also requires holding down RT/R2 but you should know when to do that once you notice that it doesn't control right normally.
Q: "Okay, but why is the footage at 60 FPS??? SECRET RINGS IS ONLY 30 FPS WHAT BLACK MAGIC IS THIS???? :OOOO"
A: 60 FPS in Secret Rings can be enabled with an action replay cheatcode inside of Dolphin. Rightclick on a game in Dolphin, select Properties, go to AR Codes and input the following code:
040B6878 3800003C
I got this code from the Dolphin Emu Wiki, thanks Nick Reynolds: wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Sonic_and_the_Secret_Rings
You now have Secret Rings at 60 FPS, congrats. If Dolphin crashes, disable the cheat. But you can normally keep it on.
