We want the mantra to stay inside. We don’t want it to be in the field of expression. We want that mantra to remain in the mind and take the mind deeper. So for your mind to go deeper, you need to have a mantra which is not in the field of expression; which is secret. That is why it is given secretly. A secret stays deeper in your heart, deep in your consciousness.
So mantra is a vehicle for the mind to dwell deeper into the consciousness. That is why it needs to be given secretly.
This is the idea from ancient times. It is so scientific.
There are mantras that everybody can chant loudly. But a personal mantra is what one has to keep secret.
Mantra sung by His Holiness Penor Rinpoche is Supreme head of the Nyingma (the Ancient Translation School of secret mantra),1932 - March 27, 2009, The original of the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in1932 in eastern Tibet, H. H. Penor Rinpoche is the emanation of the great Dzogchen master Vimalamitra. He is the 3rd Penor Rinpoche, and was enthroned as the 11th holder of the Palyul Lineage at the age of twelve. He spent four years practicing in retreat with his teacher Choktrul Rinpoche, and received all the Nyingma and Dzogchen teachings. After 1959, H. H. Penor Rinpoche came to India and re-established the Palyul Monastery in Mysore. Today 1,500 monks and nuns live, study, and practice at the monastery. He has made several trips to Tibet, where he has rebuilt the Palyul Monastery.
He was one of a very few teachers left from his generation who received all his training (in the traditional sense) in Tibet under the guidance of what Tibetan Buddhists consider to be fully enlightened teachers.

Four Immeasurables 四无量心

May all sentient beings be well and happy and have the cause of happiness
DUK NGAL DANK DUK NGAL GYI GYU DANG DRAL WAR GYUR CHIK
May they be separated from suffering and the cause of suffering
DUK NGAL ME PAI DE WA DAM PA DANG MI DRAL WAR GYUR CHIK
Be inseparated from the perfect bliss which is completely free from suffering
NYE RING CHHAK DANG NYI DANG DRAL WAI TANG NYOM CHHEN POI NGA LA SEM RABTU NE PAR GYUR CHIK
May they all without least exception, dwell in the universal equanimity which is unbiased by attachment for dear and ones and aversion from distant ones
