On the sand banks above Mounda beach on the south coast of the Greek island of Kefalonia ( Cephalonia) there are a number of overgrown and well hidden German bunkers and AA gun battery flak nest coastal defences from when the island was occupied during World War 2.
Time has taken its toll on the structures which blend into the surroundings and can be difficult to locate until you are right on top of them.
It is said that land mines may still remain buried along with old equipment from when soldiers were stationed here.
