While societies across the planet have striven to prevent the spread of COVID-19, flu cases have dropped dramatically. A secondary effect of our collective efforts to slow down COVID is that we have reduced cases of influenza to incredibly low rates, perhaps some of the lowest in human history. Transmission of the common cold and other incidental diseases is also very low. After the end of the pandemic, will people continue to employ some of these protective measures on an individual basis? Will this long and trying experience change how we treat our hygiene permanently?
