1. TELL ME WHAT IS HAPPENING IN SEPTEMBER?

September is Hunger Action Month, a national push to raise awareness of hunger and get people to take action. We have been at this since 1982, we are the largest anti-hunger network in the state, and we work alongside more than 500 partners across 23 parishes. Orange is the color of the month, so wear it, light up your building, and help spread the word.

2. WHAT ARE YOU SEEING RIGHT NOW ACROSS SOUTH LOUISIANA?

More of our neighbors are asking for help, and they are asking more often. More than 481,000 people across our 23 parishes do not have enough food. That is about 1 in 5 people and 1 in 4 children. Groceries cost more and paychecks have not caught up, so a household that was making it work on the same wage last year is coming up short this year.

3. WHAT ARE YOU ASKING PEOPLE TO DO THIS MONTH?

Find your part, and there is more than one. Give, because it moves fastest and we stretch it further than a family can at the register. Volunteer, because the school year is one of our busiest stretches. And speak up, because most people aren't aware. Take one action. Come find your part at no-hunger.org
