A rescued manatee is back in the wild!
Citron, a female manatee rescued by SeaWorld Orlando's Rescue Team, has officially returned to Florida waters after months of rehabilitation.
She was found in January in Kings Bay in Crystal River, swimming on her side. The team determined she was suffering from a pneumothorax - air trapped in the chest cavity from a damaged lung - that made it impossible for her to swim and surface normally.
After months of specialized veterinary care and rehabilitation at SeaWorld Orlando, Citron was cleared for release and returned to the wild on August 27 at The Port Hotel and Marina in Crystal River.
The video shows her final moments before returning home and her release back into Kings Bay.
