Black civil rights leaders just blasted Seattle socialist Mayor Katie Wilson for reportedly terminating SPD Chief Shon Barnes.
They want the mayor to reinstate Barnes, saying he’s being made the fall guy for her “inexperience.”
There is also an undercurrent of race at play. Wilson is white and Barnes is black. The civil rights leaders say Wilson should be doing more to retain black leaders in her majority white administration.
Barnes has been under enormous pressure for being out of town during the Seattle Center mass shooting. Barnes is also being scrutinized for his travel outside the city and criticized for his recent confrontation with a reporter.
