As people step up to help families impacted by this summer's Aspen Acres Fire in Colorado, some four-legged volunteers are also lending a paw.
Search dogs and their handlers are working to help locate pets that have gone missing as families are displaced by the fire.
Among them are Dawna Andrews and her dog, Quasar — a grand champion with an impressive resume.
"He's done speed, agility, obedience, he's a grand champion," Andrews said.
But Quasar's path to tracking other animals began after a serious health scare.
"Before he turned 3, he got this condition called idiopathic chylothorax, which is a very rare condition," Andrews said. "There was a low chance of recovery, and he recovered."
