I drank an' debauched every tavern 'till dawn
'Twas one cold morning I'll never forget
A brawl left a man dead, a man I'd never met
Come morning there was trouble, an' guards came through the door
They shouted "you're all murderers you'll hang for sure"
I fled for my freedom an' set sails of fate
Escaped the hangman, became a pirate
When love's all gone, a lonely song is sung
My heart despairs for a maiden fair
She was my sun, my lovely dearest one
I'd give my everything to see her again
When I was only eighteen an' lived on Stony Shore
I heard a maiden laughing, a sound I adore
She smiled so sweetly, I could not look away
Her face I'll remember until my dying day
She took my hand an' led me to a garden far from home
She whispered "will you care for me, I'm lonely and alone"
I kissed her an' held her so close unto my heart
I loved her an' lost her when fate tore us apart
