San Diego, Museum Park, July 23 2026
Nickelodeon brought its colorful characters, interactive games and famous green slime to downtown San Diego with “Fun Flows Here,” a free outdoor experience organized during San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
Presented in partnership with The New Children’s Museum, the activation transformed Museum Park into a lively family destination featuring entertainment, creative workshops, music, photo opportunities and plenty of slime.
Located at 200 W. Island Avenue, directly across from The New Children’s Museum and within walking distance of the San Diego Convention Center, “Fun Flows Here” was accessible without a Comic-Con badge. This free, drop-in format allowed families, local residents and visiting fans to experience the excitement of SDCC without entering the crowded convention center.
At the heart of the event was an interactive stage hosted by Kids Imagine Nation. Performers combined music, games and audience participation with entertainment inspired by PAW Patrol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Thundermans and Star Trek: Scouts.
Live DJ sets kept the energy going between performances, while raffles, giveaways and surprise appearances made every visit different. The result felt more like a compact outdoor festival than a traditional promotional activation.
Visitors could also explore themed photo installations inspired by SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar: The Last Airbender and the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. These colorful environments placed guests inside recognizable Nickelodeon worlds and provided plenty of opportunities for photos and social-media videos.
Live character-drawing demonstrations revealed how familiar animated personalities are created from simple lines, shapes and expressive details. Children could also enjoy bubble play, hands-on activities and make their own slime—with selected visitors getting the chance to experience the ultimate Nickelodeon tradition by being completely slimed.
Activities connected to Nickelodeon Our World added a community-focused element, encouraging children to understand how small actions can make a positive difference. This helped the event combine entertainment, creativity and empowerment within the playful atmosphere of Museum Park.
On Friday, July 24, the experience continued with a free outdoor screening of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. After a day of music, games, crafts and slime, families could gather for a relaxed movie night under the San Diego sky.
The screening highlighted the multigenerational appeal of Nickelodeon. Younger audiences could enjoy SpongeBob’s comedy and adventures, while adults who grew up with the character could share the experience with a new generation.
By bringing together PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other popular franchises, “Fun Flows Here” created something for visitors of every age.
Its outdoor setting and free admission removed two major Comic-Con barriers: the need for a badge and the challenge of navigating a crowded convention center with young children.
“Fun Flows Here” ultimately turned Museum Park into a bright, energetic and delightfully messy extension of SDCC 2026. Nickelodeon and The New Children’s Museum demonstrated that Comic-Con fun does not have to remain behind convention doors—and that sometimes the best badge of honor is a fresh coating of green slime.
