I’ve never really been a micro crawler guy…
They’ve always felt twitchy, awkward, and not very scale.
But winter is here ❄️ — and indoor crawling changes everything.
Today is the Battle of the Micros, and talking about the Axial SCX30 and the Redcat Ascent 32. Both are tiny rigs, but they couldn’t feel more different on the rocks (and LEGOs 🧱).
What stands out:
The SCX30’s suspension geometry is absolutely on point
Throttle smoothing makes it smooth, predictable, and scale-feeling
Worm-drive axles, skid design, and weight balance actually work
And surprisingly… the SCX30 is the perfect scale for LEGO crawling courses
The Redcat Ascent 32 isn’t bad — but side-by-side, the SCX30 just feels calmer, smoother, and more intentional for crawling.
