It is logically inconsistent to claim that scripture inherently supersedes inspired men, when, by very definition, it is those very men—acting under divine inspiration—who produce the scriptures themselves. The authority and sanctity of scripture are inseparably linked to the revelatory stewardship of inspired men; to separate the text from its divinely appointed authors is to overlook the foundation upon which scripture rests. Rather than being independent entities, scripture and inspired leadership are profoundly intertwined: the sacred writings exist because God first called, inspired, and directed men to receive, record, and preserve His word. To suggest that scripture has precedence over the prophets who authored it is, therefore, to undermine the inspired process that gave rise to scripture in the first place.
