It appears Spyglass Media Group, the company which acquired the rights to The Weinstein Company's film library (which includes the Scream franchise) is coming under fire from The Harvey Weinstein Victim Advocacy Group for their failure to make compensations towards a victim's fund which was a condition of the sale of The Weinstein Company. This conditions was put in place to ensure that other Hollywood producers wouldn't profit off of Harvey Weinstein's exploitations.

Spyglass has yet to issue a statement regarding the protests, and still hasn't made any compensations, even though the sale was made a year ago. And while my sympathies go out to the victims of Harvey Weinstein. This video is more to do with how this could possibly have a negative effect on the future of Scream, as well as the Spyglass company in general.
While this is all very bad form on Spyglass's part, there could be extenuating circumstances for their hold out towards this fund. Possibly because their finances are currently tied up in the development of future projects such as Scream 5 and the Hellraiser reboot. Which is a good sign to indicate this movie is moving forward quite nicely.
On the downside though, if they aren't making good on their legal agreements, the company could be seen as a pariah in the industry, and see many people refuse to work with them, which would lead to many creative setbacks if say the cast of Scream (including Neve Campbell) was to not return. There is also the possibility that this could be seen as a breach of their agreement, and the film rights could be taken away from them, and put back into a state of limbo, setting a release date back several more years.
Of course I am no lawyer, and can't really begin to grasp the situation from a legal standpoint, but with all the current media attention Harvey Weinstein is receiving in lieu of his conviction, this is going to create waves if it is not resolved quickly.
