I used the new extension mechanism for the Scratch programming language to connect it to the Echonest Remix API. I created new Scratch blocks that let you create new music using the individual beats of a song. Here I've taken De La Soul's "The Magic Number" and sliced it up a few ways: triggering very short samples from the song using the keyboard, stringing together a randomly generated sequence of short samples and looping it, and playing the song one beat at a time by pressing the space bar repeatedly.
