In today’s scrapbook layout process video, I’m sharing a simple color trick—let your photos pick the colors for your layout. Choosing colors for a scrapbook layout can sometimes feel tricky—especially when a paper collection leans heavily toward one color. In this video I’m sharing a simple scrapbooking layout color trick: let your photos pick the colors!
For this 2 page scrapbook layout process, I used the gorgeous Garden Poetry collection and paired it with the brand new Capturing Smiles stamp and die set. My photos feature my granddaughter wearing a beautiful green dress in a Little Miss contest, so instead of limiting myself to just the greens in the paper collection, I looked closely at the colors in the photos to help expand the color palette and create a layout that really pops.
You’ll see how I:
• Use my photos to guide the color choices on a scrapbook page
• Add subtle interest to the background by alternating the A and B sides of patterned paper
• Create a unique background using circle rings that reveal both sides of the paper
• Make simple but beautiful embellishments with second generation stamping (stamping off)
• Use circles as design elements to add movement and softness to the layout
The result is a simple but elegant two-page scrapbook layout with lots of subtle texture and visual interest.
