Despite majoring in studio art at Smith, Scout Cuomo ’06 never imagined that she would be able to make a living with her art. But because of online marketplace sites like Etsy, Cuomo, who is based in western Massachusetts, sells her work to buyers around the world and often receives orders for special commissions. Her work is primarily acrylic on canvas or glass, with a resin layering that adds an otherworldly glow to all her pieces. Cuomo recently had her first exhibit at Smith. She talks about the experience of coming back to campus, why she chose the theme of water for her show, and her hopes for the future.
