Scottish Green Party politician Q Manivannan is back in the headlines after comments he made about rape during a podcast resurfaced.

In a statement, Manivannan apologised but said extracts from the show had been taken out of context: 'I am horrified that my comments were selectively edited in order to mislead people and misrepresent me, but I also accept that my language was abstract in the first place and for that I take full responsibility and am sorry.'

In May, filmmaker Malcolm Clark warned that behind Manivannan's friendly, smiley persona sits a politician with extreme views.
