Louis Couperin meets Richard Wagner: Scott Ross, using the pseudonym Tantris Soldei, wrote his Preludio all'imitazione del signor Vanieri as a sight-reading test for the Concours de Paris in 1985. It is written in the style of a Louis Couperin unmeasured prelude (i.e. there are no barlines and all the pitches are notated as whole notes), but quotes liberally from Wagner's prelude to Tristan und Isolde.
