Thank you for watching!

The Pittenweem Witch Trials of the early 18th Century were among Scotland’s last notorious witch hunts. In the small fishing village of Pittenweem, Fife, several locals were accused of witchcraft after a teenage boy claimed they were responsible for his illness. The most infamous case was Janet Cornfoot, falsely accused of sorcery. She was brutally lynched by a mob—stoned, beaten, and crushed under heavy stones—while authorities turned a blind eye. Others accused endured torture, imprisonment, and public humiliation.
