The Scorpius Trenches are starting to take shape in Subnautica 2! The new Experimental build launched on August 12, and in this video we're diving into the unfinished upcoming area to see what has changed since the EA 1.1 Adaptive Measures update.
There are already some major changes to the landscape.
One of the biggest is around the area between the Alien Observatory and the thermal vent zone, where significantly more terrain is beginning to appear. This gives you more rocks, cliffs, and landscape to hide behind while trying to sneak past the massive Collector Leviathan patrolling the area.
But the really interesting changes start underneath the Collector.
If you follow the strange river of flowing tar down into the unfinished Scorpius Trenches area, there's now considerably more to explore.
We're checking out:
✅ New terrain around the Collector Leviathan
✅ More places to hide while traveling through the area
✅ The route toward the upcoming Scorpius Trenches
✅ A flowing river of tar leading deeper underground
✅ New cave systems being constructed
✅ New pieces of CICADA ship wreckage scattered through the area
✅ Major landscape changes since Adaptive Measures
✅ Unfinished sections of Subnautica 2's next major expansion area
This is still Experimental content, so a lot of what we're looking at is unfinished and could change before it reaches the normal Early Access version of Subnautica 2.
But compared to the previous build, we're finally starting to get a much clearer picture of how the Scorpius Trenches biome could connect to the existing map and how players may eventually travel deeper beneath the Collector Leviathan.
