"Scipio," the Regimental Slow March of the British Grenadier Guards, originates from George Frideric Handel's 1726 opera Scipione (HWV 20), written to celebrate the Roman General Scipio Africanus. Handel, an admirer of the regiment, composed the march for them, presenting it before the opera's premiere.
