God | Scientists JUST Discovered Joshua's Great Witness Stone at Shechem @godofrevelation | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 12 hours ago.
Something incredible has recently been discovered in Shechem! The stone you just saw was mentioned in the bible and it is extremely important for us today.
To understand exactly what is going on here, we need to first set some things straight.
Two sizable mountains are situated roughly 35 miles north of Jerusalem, in the center of the Bible's Promised Land. Mount Ebal is located slightly to the north of Mount Gerizim, which is the southernmost of the two. Moses gives the Israelites instructions on what to do when they arrive in the land of Canaan in Deuteronomy Chapter 27. Moses gives the command for the six tribes to stand on Mount Gerizim in order to bless the people. After that, he lists six more tribes, claiming that they will stand atop Mount Ebal and cast curses.
Joshua brought all of the Israelite tribes to Shechem for the Covenant renewal, which occurs in Joshua 24. The Germans, led by Ernst Sellin, began excavating Shechem's ancient mound, known locally as Tel Balata, in 1913, starting by digging along a significant portion of the city wall. Shechem is situated in the valley between Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal. Sellin discovered what he claimed to be a water trough carved out of a massive rock in 1926. It had a monolith transversely lying in it.
He observed that it was an intricately carved stone. It's incomplete; if it were complete in the past, it would have been impressive. However, he saw and understood it as a holy standing stone, or "Massebah," as it is known in Hebrew. The holy standing stone at Shechem was damaged when Sellin dug it up.
