BRIGHT SIDE | Scientists Discovered a Super-Earth Just Next Door to Us @BRIGHTSIDEOFFICIAL | Uploaded October 2024 | Updated October 2024, 4 hours ago.
Scientists have found a "Super-Earth" planet pretty close to us, just outside our solar system! This planet, called Proxima Centauri b, orbits our nearest neighboring star, Proxima Centauri. It’s called a "Super-Earth" because it’s bigger than Earth, but not as massive as the giant planets like Neptune or Jupiter. What's exciting is that it’s in the star’s "habitable zone," meaning it might have the right conditions for liquid water, and maybe even life. However, we still don't know much about its atmosphere or surface because it's so far away, even though it’s one of the closest exoplanets we’ve ever found. Scientists are eager to learn more and find out if this nearby planet could actually support life!
