As hurricane activity peaks, 86% of storm deaths are caused by water, not wind — making precise flood data and forecasting essential. That’s why Florida Atlantic University's Sensing Institute (I-SENSE) is leading one of the largest academic weather station networks in the country, powering real-time forecasts that help keep communities safe.

With 160+ stations across Florida (and growing to 445), the SEA Econet provides critical data to the National Weather Service and emergency teams — supporting faster alerts, better flood forecasting, and life-saving decisions during severe storms.

Florida Atlantic University is building a safer, more resilient Florida — one data point at a time. #R1 #FAUresearch 🌦️
