Stephen Bullivant is the Director of the Benedict XVI Centre for Religion and Society and a professor of theology and the sociology of religion at St. Mary’s University, Twickenham in London. In his presentation from the 2023 Wonder Conference, Dr. Bullivant discusses the perception—common enough among Christians, let alone the wider culture—that there is some natural affinity between science and atheism. But to what extent is this really the case? How important is “science” to why people become or stay non-religious?
