Back when Sci-Fi Channel played anime in the 90's, they seemed to do yearly blocks called the "Festival of Anime".
These interviews came during the airing of Gall Force in late August of 1996 im assuming, based on the information from the person who uploaded this recording on a website I got it from. These are just small interviews Sci-Fi channel did to promote anime however they could, accosting American industry people at a convention and interviewing Japanese guests in a room.
The people on camera are Hideaki Anno, Robert Woodhead, Toshifumi Yoshida, Trish Ledoux, Koichi Ohata, Noboru Ishiguro, Kenichi Sonoda, Mamoru Oshii, Toshihiko Nishikubo, Yoshiaki Kawajiri, Yumi Takada, and a bunch of nerds on the con floor. I don't know what convention this happened at, but hopefully that will surface once this video is out there.
This is a pure testament to 90's anime fandom, especially on a major network like Sci Fi Channel.
