A new project is here! Sycophant is the first release off my upcoming EP, Stoop Holiday. I'll be releasing one song every two weeks until December (:
When I put out my first song I didn't really know how to promote. I did some searching and found out about "playlisting," or paying people to get your songs on independent playlists. This would theoretically result in Spotify streams. The problem was, however, that almost all of these companies generated fake streams from fake playlists. My music was going nowhere.
After getting scammed out of hundreds of dollars I figured that there must be another way (I eventually found the way...but it took quite some time and quite a lot of scams).
This experience with playlisting was the first of several that I had with sycophants in the music industry - people just trying to leach off of musicians. I rarely get as frustrated as when I'm dealing with such individuals. I decided to channel that frustration into the grooviest song possible. I hope you enjoy (:
