An imaginative and deep engagement with history and storytelling is evident in Scherezade Garcia’s adoption of a New World baroque style to recover erased histories and colonial narratives of power and collective memory. In this film, the artist discusses her artistic practice and her passion with themes of inclusion/exclusion, migration, settlement, and urban change. The film captures the artist in her studio as she creates a series of paintings on paper, allowing us to witness her unbound creativity, vibrant brushstroke, rich color, and tantalizing compositions, full of signifiers.

Directed by Ludy Grandas.
