In this video, we explore the Schedule Performance Index (SPI), a key metric in Project Management used to measure how efficiently a project is progressing compared to its planned schedule.

SPI is part of Earned Value Management and helps project managers determine whether a project is ahead of schedule, on time, or delayed.

Here is the formula:

SPI= PV/EV



Where:

EV (Earned Value) means the value of work actually completed
PV (Planned Value) means the value of work planned

You will learn how to interpret SPI values:

SPI equals 1 means the project is on schedule
SPI greater than 1 means the project is ahead of schedule
SPI less than 1 means the project is behind schedule

For example, if SPI is 0.75, it means the project is progressing at 75 percent of the planned rate, indicating delays.

SPI is very useful for monitoring progress, forecasting completion time, and taking corrective actions to improve schedule performance.
