Dockweiler State Beach is a beach in Los Angeles, California, with 3.75 miles (6.04 km) of shoreline and a hang gliding practice and training area.
Use:
One of the few beaches in Los Angeles County where bonfires are permitted, it is popular for barbecues and picnics.
Bicycle path
The Dockweiler State Beach bicycle path is maintained by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.
It runs from Ballona Creek to the El Segundo city limit.
Bike Path ID: 22. Mileage: 3.79.
This bicycle path connects to the Ballona Creek bicycle path at its northernmost point and is part of the 22-mile coastal Marvin Braude Bike Trail system
Although a unit of the California state park system, it is managed by the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors.
Part of the park is located directly under the flight path of the adjacent Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The 91-acre (37 ha) property was established in 1948.
Originally part of Venice-Hyperion Beach State Park, it was renamed in honor of prominent early Angeleno Isidore B. Dockweiler in 1955.
Dockweiler State Beach is in the Playa del Rey neighborhood at the western terminus of Imperial Highway.

Between the beach and the airport lies the ghost town of Palisades del Rey.
El Porto Beach is a California public beach managed by the County of Los Angeles, located in Santa Monica Bay beside El Porto, which is now part of the City of Manhattan Beach, between the beaches of El Segundo Beach and Manhattan Beach, and is protected under the state park system.
The entrance to El Porto's large parking lot, which has meters, is at the west end of 45th Street from Highland Avenue.
El Porto is one of the most popular beaches in the South Bay area with surfers from near and far because of an underwater canyon that creates waves usually larger than those at neighboring beaches.
These swells have lefts and rights that break over sandbars and are consistently big when other beaches are flat. The breaks can hold waves up to double overhead.
El Porto is very close to the Chevron oil refinery and a private corporate Electricity-producing facility for Edison that uses natural gas.
Also very close are two city of Los Angeles industrial facilities, namely Hyperion sewage treatment plant and Scattergood Electricity Facility that uses natural gas to produce the electricity.
Volleyball courts are located throughout the El Porto beach area. Roller skates and bicycles are rented out at the snack bar for recreation along the bike trail.
There are restrooms with showers located throughout; and lifeguards are on duty.
No fires are permitted on the beach; dogs are not allowed.

Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, as well as a diverse residential neighborhood of some 85,000 people, and covers 5.84 sq mi (15.1 km2).
A 2013 study found that the district is home to over 500,000 jobs.
It is also part of Central Los Angeles.
Pacoima is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the northern San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles.
Its name originates from the Fernandeño language and means the entrance.
It was given this name due to the large streams of water which flowed through the area down from the mountain canyons.
The Interstate Highway System is a federally funded and administered (but state-maintained) system of freeways that forms the transportation backbone of the U.S., with millions of Americans relying on it for commutes, long-distance travel, and freight transport daily.
The United States Numbered Highway System is an older system consisting mostly of surface-level trunk roads, coordinated by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and maintained by state and local governments. U.S. Highways have been relegated to regional and intrastate traffic, as they have been largely supplanted by the Interstate system for long-distance travel except in areas (especially in the west) where the Interstate system is absent or underdeveloped.
Interstate highways are all constructed to precise standards, designed to maximize high-speed travel safety and efficiency. Interstate Highways also contain auxiliary routes, which are normally assigned a three-digit route number
All Interstate Highways are part of the National Highway System, a network of highways deemed essential to the defense, economy, and mobility of the country.
Each state also has a state highway system. State highways are of varying standards, capacity, and quality.
Some state highways become so heavily traveled they are built to Interstate Highway standards. Others are more lightly traveled and have low capacity.
Many state highway markers are designed to suggest the geographic shape of the state or some other state symbol such as its flag. Most of the others are generically rectangular or some other neutral shape.
