Alba follows a recently separated couple, Alba and Matt, as they prepare to compete in the finals of a Marinera competition. Through La Marinera, a traditional Peruvian dance that celebrates flirtation, youth and romantic tension, the film explores heartache, uncertainty and the emotional pull of a relationship in transition. Set within the Latin‑Australian community, Alba is a coming‑of‑age story about love, loss and stepping into one’s own power.

Produced in 2019 as part of the Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production program, the film premiered at Flickerfest in 2021 and went on to screen at the Sydney Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival and Westpac Open Air Cinema. It was also nominated for Best Direction in a Student Film at the 40th Australian Directors’ Guild Awards.
