Today we’re discussing a topic that often causes concern when it comes to surgery: scars, especially in facial surgery. Did you know that with an endoscopic facelift, specifically the MIVEL (Minimal Incision Vertical Endoscopic Lifting), there are virtually no visible scars? We only make small incisions hidden in the hairline, no more than two centimeters long, and there’s no need to cut any hair. So, with endoscopy and MIVEL, the number of scars is essentially zero.
However, when we talk about mini facelifts or neck lifts, it’s clear that a scar is necessary because, in some cases, we need to remove a bit of excess skin, especially in the preauricular area. Sometimes, we can also lift the jawline with the MIVEL 3, which reaches the jawline, and in this case, there are still no visible scars.
When performing a mini facelift or a full neck lift (NAL), there’s a scar that starts in front of the ear and curves behind it. The scar in front of the ear, which tends to cause the most concern, usually becomes invisible within a month post-surgery. After four to six months, when the scar is fully healed, it becomes practically unnoticeable. The scar behind the ear may remain slightly red, but fortunately, for women with long hair, it’s often completely hidden.
Scars are indeed very important and require great care and precision in execution. We can often avoid them thanks to endoscopic techniques, but when necessary, rest assured that modern suturing and healing methods make them barely visible today.
