When a landslide in the Swiss Alps caused a road tunnel to cave in, the Elios 3 was deployed to gather situational awareness and help plan a rapid response. The results were used to strategize the best way to reconstruct the tunnel safely as well as to understand the nature of the landslide to inform future disaster preparedness.

Tunnel inspections can be very dangerous after a recent collapse making it difficult to send people inside especially if you don't know the situation it is in. For this reason, inspection drones are the ideal tool to use as they allow you to get a good spatial awareness of the conditions inside the tunnel.
