Als Geek Lab | Scan networks like a pro with #NMAP: The Network Mapper (port scanner) @AlsGeekLab | Uploaded May 2022 | Updated October 2024, 18 hours ago.
Today's video is a full length tutorial which you can use to comprehensively learn how to use NMAP, the open source network scanner. In the video, you'll learn first the fundamentals of the networking you need to know in order for network scanning to make sense. For example a bit on how TCP/IP works, especially when it comes to ports. Then you'll learn how to get, install and use NMAP for basic port scanning purposes. The next covers network discovery, which can be very interesting to find, for example, rogue hosts on a corporate network (which is a very legitimate reason for using NMAP). The tutorial then goes on to cover more scanning techniques, fingerprinting and service detection, as well as how to stay covert using evasion techniques. There's further information on output options to give you more ways to manipulate the data NMAP gives you, and then finally, a brief insight into NSE, the extensible scripting engine that allows you to add payloads to your scans to take NMAP to the next level and make it into a veritable Swiss army knife.
