Rotem lays out the practice order for the three-notes-per-string positions: take one position, play it a bunch of times until the muscle memory is tight, and sing it so you actually understand what you're doing. The next day you add another position, and then you start mixing them. It's a slow process, but it's how the fingerboard opens up so you can create freely instead of feeling locked.
