Say's Phoebe is a passerine bird in the tyrant flycatcher family.
They are slender , long-tailed flycatcher with a relatively large head. Brownish gray above with a cinnamon belly and gray breast.
It prefers dry, desolate areas. Farm fields , or backyards.
They do not come to bird feeders, but they come to backyard as a place to catch insect or even build a nest.
When they find a good nesting site they will use it year after year . once a say's phoebe reused the same nest 5 years in a row. They will nest in mailboxes , on machinery , and even use old nests built by other species. Like Eastern and Black phoebes , barn swallows , american robins, cliff banks.
The song of the say's phoebe consists of 2 simple vocalizations repeated over and over. The clear slurred whistle and a burry, hiccupping notes. Each one is less than a second long, they repeat the phases for several minutes.
