The Wanamaker Building in Philadelphia, originally opened in 1911, was home to one of the first department stores in the U.S., founded by retail pioneer John Wanamaker. This Beaux-Arts landmark, located at 13th and Market Streets, became famous for its grand architecture, massive central atrium, and the Wanamaker Organ—the world’s largest functioning pipe organ.
