Reculver Towers. Roman 'Saxon Shore' fort and a Saxon monastery, built on the site of one of the first Roman fortresses in North Kent, to guard the Wantsum Channel entrance to the port of Richborough, lnow at Sandwich, long silted-up since the 16th century.
