1.6.3 pre-release has been pushed out on the launcher as a structure saving fix for worlds, a stepping stone to 1.7 (or 1.7 snapshots). This does not mean you can load up 1.6.3 then go directly to 1.7 (or snapshots)! Don't go ahead and break anything in your world you want to keep :)

We *normally* see no changes between a pre-release and a final release, but keep it in mind that it is currently a pre-release of Minecraft 1.6.3. It is still not recommended to update a world to 1.7 snapshots because of the broken world gen you will see, which will change between snapshots!
