When Mohammed Al-Rehaief, a young Iraqi lawyer, hears that 19-year-old U.S. soldier Private First Class Jessica Lynch from West Virginia is being held as a prisoner of war in an Iraqi hospital, his curiosity quickly turns into a personal mission to understand what someone so close in age to his own daughters is doing in such a place and why she is being detained. As he begins to look deeper, his search pulls him into the chaos of post-Saddam Iraq, where shifting loyalties and suspicion blur every action. Caught between occupying U.S. forces and his own nationalist countrymen—both of whom begin to view him as a potential threat—his private concern for one girl becomes entangled with a much larger and more dangerous struggle unfolding around him.
