There have been countless dystopian visions and futurist warnings involving the idea of a technocratic society, whereby a panopticon system of constant surveillance is employed to record and control every conceivable aspect of citizen’s lives.
None of them however seemed to have conceived of a scenario that could propel the adoption of such a system in the real world with more rapidity and scope, than the declaration of a worldwide health emergency allegedly requiring the immediate implementation of a host of hardware and software applications which coincidentally enough, didn’t even exist prior to a few years ago.
But how fortuitous indeed, that our silicon-valley bastions of algorithmic invention have so recently achieved the ability to track the movements of millions of individuals at the same time, to detect whether or not they might be ignorantly endangering themselves and others by not wearing a mask, and to give us the safety and security we all want and deserve, by being able to know if/when/where we might have come into contact with someone else whom the benevolence of Big Brother has recognized as a health threat, or whatever else.
The irony however, is that so many people either embrace being wrapped in the security blanket of the “internet-of-everything” and do virtually all they can to willingly download every Big Data intrusion app available, install every surveillance device on the market into their homes, and yes, even applaud the idea of social-distancing software controlled by opaque public/private initiatives, OR… they come to recognize that this interconnected biometric-reading super-grid is Orwellian, totalitarian, and in fact not being created because governments and corporations love you so much and just want to keep you safe…
But the reality is… even Satan’s attempt to counterfeit the omniscience and omnipresence of God, is still a rather pathetic facsimile in the end. His so-called “all-seeing eye” being reliant upon an infrastructure built and maintained by the same mortal beings he seeks to control with it…
Jesus said:
“Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:29-31
But do we fully comprehend what that would really mean…?
The magnitude of intelligence, observation, and calculation that would really entail, to be able to know and count, not just every sparrow, and every hair on every head, but…
Not just every conceivable quantifiable physical thing that is, but every thought ever held, by every human heart….?
O LORD, You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.
You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
