Stellar Assault SS, developed and published exclusively in the JP region by SIMS Co in 1998.
You may have seen Stella Assault on the 32x. This is a much upgraded version for the Sega Saturn released only in Japan in 1998. The game has a very lengthily story and unfortunately it is all in Japanese with no subtitles. the game annoyingly has a limited viewport wasting most of the screen resolution but I guess this was done to keep the framerate up.
Its a shame this did not get localised and released in the west as the game is pretty good as far as space combat games go. Like the first game you get the choice of two ships. This time they are not so different as they both have extra shields and both have limited energy that is replenished every level. The difference lies in there weaponry. To keep things simply I used Feather02 which has strong weapons which tare through anything with ease at the expense of much higher energy usage.
I let the attract sequence play out which shows Feather01 in action. I then proceed onto the story missions. The mission briefings and story elements are often far longer than the game play parts apart from the final mission which takes a while.

3D Classics Urban Challenge Original Arcade/Nes game by Nintendo 1984. 3DS remake by Arika and published by Nintendo in 2011. Exclusive to the Nintendo eShop.
In 3D Classics Urban Champion, prove youre the toughest guy on the streets. Block, punch and dodge your way through opponents to force them back - and down the open manholes! Plus youll have to contend with angry neighbours dropping flower pots and avoid the attentions of the police, too. Battle solo against computer-controlled foes or face off against a friend via Nintendo 3DS Local Play.
Arika seems to be picking some really early stuff that hasnt aged too well yet probably the easiest to make stereoscopic. Not remotely on the level of M2s Sega conversions. This one is just three screens and two figures and dragged out for 150 rounds to become the Urban Champion. The 3D works well enough but hardly a showcase title for the technology.
The game is a one on one fighting game in its simplest form. simple walk left/right whilst punching your opponent off the screen and down the manhole on the third screen to complete the level. You get three lives and its game over if you get pushed down the manhole on the third screen. You can lean back to block or lean in to punch high or low with a quick hit or a slow hard hit to knock the opponent back. Watch out for falling plants and note that you are constantly losing stamina based on how you are knocked back and how hard you swing.
Their is not a lot to the game and its quite a mind numbing grind to become the urban champion. Their is no ending and the game will happily keep on going until you eventually succumb to fatigue and either lose or turn off the game. That said the game has a save function to continue the pain. The game starts off easy and gets progressively more difficult and really ramps up after round fifty.

Sonic Jam contains the genesis classics as well as Sonic World, a very poor attempt at a 3D sonic game like Sonic R.
I spend the first hour on Sonic World. It contains 10ish missions that I clear towards the end and sonic artwork/cinematics of the past. Possibly the most annoying thing about Sonic World is how the camera defaults to looking down at the ground. This not only ruins everything but makes the finding missions far more difficult than they needed to be. The second hour I run through sonic on original mode, then I play sonic 2 as knuckles for the next hour on original mode, and then finally sonic 3 and knuckles on normal.
I didnt quite understand the difficulty options until I had cleared sonic 2. Original is the original layout of the genesis versions, Normal is a incredibly slightly different (i think easier + less bad guys) layout to this, and easy is this but easier. When playing through sonic 3 and knuckles on normal I noticed perhaps one difference, and I might have thought there were fewer bad dudes around but It would be hard to pick the changes out.
