hollowleaf, a senior warrior who took a liking a young apprentice named larkpaw and starts talking with her and telling her stories of his past and leafclan's past (the ghosts arent leafclan. theyre actually references to other cats that have died in the group). both of her parents die under a falling tree and shes left with her sister, flickerpaw, and her brother, crowpaw. as she is trying to get through and talk to them, it slowly drains her until she shuts down. hollowleaf notices this and tries to talk to her, trying to cheer her up. eventually, he comes to a decision where he decides to adopt her.
