Sure we didn't get the Satellaview service here in North America with the Super Nintendo but over in Japan Nintendo partnered with St. Giga to create the Satellaview service...also known as Nintendo BS-X (or Nintendo BSX) where you could download games and additional content via satellite service at certain times of the day! Special editions of games (BS The Legend of Zelda, BS F-Zero X, BS Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga and more) were available...via space!
Satellaview Plus Broadcasts should be coming back today August 1st...fingers crossed! Check here : satellaviewplus.github.io/Website
Sadly Satellaview hardware is basically just a curiosity piece today but the Satalleview Plus team has brought functionality back via emulation and plans on having it run on real Super Famicom hardware in the future. Hopefully one day we can get the same functionality as a MiSTer FPGA Core!
