SATA Hard Drive Installation on a Powerspec Computer

There are plenty of easy videos for installing a SATA hard drive, but this Powerspec computer from Microcenter with a Gigabyte B650M C V3 motherboard and a Radeon graphics card posed some unique challenges.

This video is more about those challenges than a step-by-step installation guide, but here are the steps anyway.

Tool: 1 Philips head screwdriver

First unplug the computer and hit the power button a few time to drain any leftover juice (and as a sacrifice to the IT gods). Then

1. Remove all four screws holding the left and right panels
2. Remove both panels
3. Free the graphics card from the rear of the computer
4. Flip the lever behind the graphics card to free it
5. Connect a SATA data cable to one of the motherboard's SATA ports
6. Slide the other end of the data cable through the valve to the hard drive bay
7. Connect the data cable to your hard drive
8. Connect one of the SATA power cables to the hard drive
9. Mount the hard drive in the bay.
