I first heard the Sarabande in B Minor on the album Land of the Midnight Sun by Al Di Meola right before I applied to Berklee College of Music. Al was a student there in the early 70s, which might explain why this classical piece was on his record. I had acquired the book "Classical Studies for Pick Style Guitar" which was one of the text books you needed as a freshman at Berklee. Interesting fact, the teachers at Berklee required you to play all the classical pieces with a pick! I wasn't in agreement with them, but as an 18 year old freshman, I had to play with a pick. Even the Sarabande was supposed to be played this way. I'm happy to upload this video of me playing it properly. It will always remind me of those early days as a student in music school.
