An exclusive remaster to play in full-dynamic audio range. Carlos Santana’s cover version of “Black Magic Women” was the first single released from his band’s “Abraxas” album in November 1970. The track was a smash hit, charting to No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Abraxas achieved a No. 1 ranking and has become one of the most beloved Classic Rock albums of that era. Black Magic Women was originally written and performed by Peter Green with his Fleetwood Mac band, and that single was released in 1968. Green’s version did not chart well, but it was frequently played on FM radio rock channels at that time. However, Santana added complex Latin beats, percussion and incorporated Gabor Szabo’s “Gypsy Queen” instrumental, taking the song to a ramped-up pulsating level with a very dramatic finish.
