This started as a song about a man who kept the trappings of many spiritual paths about him, but where was he to be found inside all of that? Then I realized what I really wanted to write about, and the song unfolded from there.
I wanted the audience to sing the word MYSTERY with me, but it was proving a bit awkward; then percussionist Kit Bailey suggested I make it call and response. I love that ghostly, mysterious word emerging from out in the theatre.
Have you noticed that
All your names are full of vowels
