Just like last time, I learned a lot of new things when putting together this round. This is for Nana Wakagimi's (@nanawakagimi1208) RP Sanctuary!
I want to thank LadyoftheSea (@ladyofthesea5285), ZosSea (@ZosSea), and Nana Wakagimi (@nanawakagimi1208) for all plotting with me. You guys are the best! Eduardo is happy to have some trusted friends on this journey!
Also shout-outs to the others! We all had so much planned for this round, so I wasn't able to flesh out scenes with some of the other characters like Johnny, Vance, and Kaulua. Happy to have chatted though, and if I make it to the next round, I'd love to plot!
~STORY POINTS~
Eduardo reflects on the most recent trauma he's experienced, aside from the whole red eyes and being pursued by Kaidan's soldiers incident. Several months prior, Eduardo lost his father, to what? Eduardo isn't even completely sure. But it left him lost and confused.
His father told him when growing up that Meds can't fix everything, but that loyalty to Kaidan would always have things pull through. So, why did his father have to die? Why did he have to have red eyes? And why is he being treated like the enemy, when he has been nothing but loyal?
Cut back to the present. Eduardo makes it out of the range of the Kaidan soldiers. Gabriel and Lucy are not so lucky, much to the chargrin of the group.
Ariana informs everyone that they will be pressing forward to their next destination, Sanctuary. As they catch their breath, Jakob checks in with Ed to see if his injury was truly healed. Impressed, Ed shows off the handy Med work and congratulates Jakob on his good work. Jakob does vice-versa, having knowledge on Lifter powers. They talk about their worries for Kaidan, but both agree that all they can worry about is moving on now. At least, for the moment.
The group treks through the desert. Eduardo takes up most of the cooking each meal, happy to be helpful in a way that he's familiar with. Kaulua and Johnny help him prep meals during a couple of the nights. (Ed keeps an eye on the latter, wary of his dicing skills. But he's happy to help him learn.)
One night, Ed gathers the courage to speak with Ariana. He sees she's knowledgeable on Kaidan and believes that she'll be honest with him. She happily accepts answering his questions, but is surprised by the more open-ended questions being asked. Ariana isn't exactly sure herself why Kaidan has been executing Mutts, she isn't even entirely sure if they are doing it for the greater good. But she sympathizes with Ed and his sorrow for the fact that, just like how he can't heal physical injuries, he can't seem to fix the situation that they are in now.
Ariana talks about surviving for her loved ones and that resonates with Ed. He'd continue pushing on to live, for his loved ones, if nothing else.
The next day, storm clouds roll in and the group witnesses rain for the first time. Eduardo is surprised by it, but mostly neutral to the phenomena. Vance, during the storm, stumbles across an object, unlocking it to reveal a time capsule.
The group view the contents of the capsule, as Ed starts an audio recording that the group listens to. The audio reveals an assortment of lore about Alchemists, and possibly Kaidan.
While checking the capsule, the group is warned of an assassin, who soon attacks the group. The assassin is a Med who heals any wounds afflicted to him, making Ed aware of his seeming invincibility. He sweeps up a cloud of sand to stun the assassin, hoping to give his friends a fighting chance. It's revealed by Ariana that the assassin is her brother, Chester, just as much as a surprise to her as it is to the others.
A portal opens behind the group and everyone makes a break for it. Eduardo drags back Vance at one point to put a halt to his fighting (not featured due to time), when Cyra is caught in an electric net. Eduardo is stunned, but goes immediately into a protective mode as he rushes over after Jakob helped remove the net. Eduardo easily lifts Cyra, rushing her to the portal as she fights for consciousness.
Maybe Ed couldn't save his dad, but he can save Cyra. And maybe he can save others, too.
That's if he can even survive this encounter.
