NRC region 4 administrator Elmo Collins admits the NRC has no solution to the waste problem. I guess it takes a child to ask a simple question no adult can answer...

Recorded at a Nuclear Regulatory Commission Public Meeting October 9th, 2012

Note #1: Mode 3 testing was begun approximately one week later.

Note #2: The girl in the blue shirt trying to get called on... never was. This happened to a lot of people that night.

San Onofre Nuclear Plant Offline Until 2013: NRC
Southern California Edison submitted a plan last week that outlines plans for the shuttered generators
UPDATE HERE: nbclosangeles.com/news/local/san-onofre-nuclear-plant-173394591.html

The San Onofre plant's power generators -- Unit 2 and Unit 3 -- were deactivated in January. Unit 2 was taken off-line for planned maintenance. Unit 3 was shut down after a leak was detected in one of its steam generator tubes.

Last week, Southern California Edison, which runs the Northern San Diego County plant and co-owns it with San Diego Gas & Electric and the city of Riverside, submitted a plan to the NRC that outlines how it will restart Unit 2. The generator would be restarted at 70 percent power for a trial period of five months.

More inspections would follow.

NRC officials have said the agency has "several months" of work ahead before a decision is reached on the plant's future.

The NRC's regional administrator, San Onofre Chief Nuclear Officer Pete Dietrich, Robert Oglesby and Ed Randolph of the California Public Utilities Commission, and nuclear energy activists are expected to attend the Dana Point meeting.

The panel discussion will be followed by a question-answer session.
